Fly Fishing The Deschutes In Bend, Oregon

I was in Bend, Oregon recently on business. I knew it was going to be a good time of year for fishing, so I booked a hotel on the Deschutes River so that I could walk down to the river in the evenings and do some fly fishing.

It was a minute walk down to the river. The weather was pretty nice. What made it even better was the fact that it was raining down in the Willamette Valley.

I caught the little beauty in the photo above on a bead-head Hare's Ear. I ended up catching about five little trout that evening. This was one of the bigger ones! Huge huh? I just let him go.

A few days later I caught one that was a little bigger on a bead-head caddis fly pupa. Here he is for your viewing pleasure. He is still alive too.

Had a great time. Hope to do it again some time soon.

  1. That was the plan the last time I went through Bend, too. We even stayed at a motel on the river, but time got in the way as it sometime does. Obviously you did better than did better than I did.
